The Ultimate Doom

DOOM (and I include DOOM 2 as the same game) is my favorite game. I’ve played it off and on since 1994 when I convinced my mom to buy me the shareware disk. I didn’t actually play the full release of any DOOM until I got a used copy of DOOM 2 in late 1999. Even though I think DOOM 2’s monsters and weapons are better, I have such a soft spot for that first episode.

What makes DOOM really special is how it has grown over the years. The community is always pushing the creativity and technology of the game. I take long breaks, but I always come back to something amazing.

I wish I could say I’ve been a long term member of the DOOM community, but as with all other things, I’m just a lurker. The community is truly creative and amazing, and that’s why DOOM is my favorite.
